Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Arne Domnérus, born on December 20, 1924, in Stockholm, Sweden, was a renowned jazz saxophonist and clarinetist. His musical journey began at a young age when he started playing the clarinet. By the time he left school, he had also taken up the saxophone and turned professional. In the 1940s, he began to make his mark with the popular dance bands of Lulle Ellboj and Simon Brehm.

Career and Musical Innovations

In 1949, Domnérus performed at the Paris Jazz Festival and with Charlie Parker when Parker was on tour in Sweden in 1950. A few years later he recorded with Clifford Brown, Art Farmer, and James Moody. From the middle 1950s to the middle 1960s, he was a featured soloist in the Swedish Radio Big Band. He wrote for film and television and recorded with Lars Gullin and Bengt Hallberg.
