Early Life and Career
Born in 1972, Florian Ross is a renowned German jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. His musical journey began in his hometown of Pforzheim, where his talent was evident from an early age. He quickly made a name for himself in the music industry with his debut recording as a leader for Naxos Records in 1998, titled “Seasons & Places.”
Education and Musical Training
Ross’s musical education took him across the globe to Cologne, London, and New York. He studied piano and composition under the guidance of several esteemed musicians, including John Taylor, Joachim Ullrich, Bill Dobbins, Django Bates, Don Friedman, and Jim McNeely. This diverse and comprehensive training played a significant role in shaping Ross’s unique musical style.

In 2011, he was commissioned to write a new arrangement of a Bobby Wellins composition for the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. In 2013, Ross released “Ties & Loose Ends,” his first recording of his own big band project. That same year, he introduced the Florian Ross Elektrio, featuring himself on the Hammond B3 organ.
